about

about this track:

My heart aches a little more than usual at the thought of releasing 'The Edge'. I've played it live, sure, but it always had that elusive quality. I was able to share this most fragile, most broken part of me only with those in the room. Like you still have autonomy over how your sharing that piece. There's an illusion of controlling the narrative. The funny thing is that that's just what it is. An illusion. Because what this song does with me, every time - it won't let me be anything but my most fragile, most heart broken. Tiny and honest. Wondering if I'll ever feel complete again.

lyrics

I’m a little broken and
You’d pick up all my pieces
If I asked you to
But I won’t ask you to
Worrying about tomorrow
Keeps both of us awake
But I’m not calling you
Do we have to stray much further
Just to find that track alone
What if we don’t make it back home

And I’ve got hands and arms and shoulders
And they, they help and lift and carry
But they don’t quite pull me over
The edge, the edge
Oh

No one there to call me out
Make me coffee, straighten up
Until I think it through
There’s a guy just round the corner
Puts it on a little thick
He’s way too much for me
We’d have a laugh, just the patter
If you knew how he exists
But you’re not going to

And other hands and arms and shoulders
They help and lift and carry
But they don’t quite pull me over
The edge, the edge
Oh

[ mmh... ]

You must be a little broken and
I’d pick up all your pieces
If you asked me to
But you’re not going to
Worrying about tomorrow
Keeps both of us awake
But I’m not calling you
No, I’m not calling you
I’m not calling you
I’m a little broken and
You’d pick up all my pieces
If I asked you to
But I won’t ask you to
Worrying about tomorrow
Keeps both of us awake
But I’m not calling you
Do we have to stray much further
